In this talk, Niamh will discuss the journey of Akara Robotics from being a small research group in
Ireland to be on the cover of Time magazine and raising millions of Euro funding for solving some of the
biggest problems faced in public health sector. Some of the biggest challenges and respective Al solution used by the Akara Robotics for translating the academic research in to a commercial real-world hardware products will be discussed.

 

Niamh Donnelly is co-founder of Akara robotics, a robotics and Al spin-out company from Trinity College Dublin. Niamh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from DCU and a Masters in AI and Machine learning from UCD. She has previously worked at Etsy and Syze (Al start-up) and
Krisolis Al consultancy. Niamh has won national award for her Al research and is recognized globally as
one of the “50 women in robotics to know about 2021” by Robohub. She played a key role in the
development and validation of the ‘Stevie’ robot, which featured on the cover of Time magazine in 2019.
